DAYTON, Ohio – The NCAA Tournament may not officially get underway until Thursday, but the Madness erupts in full effect in Dayton’s First Four.
Despite a valiant comeback attempt by former March darlings UMBC, 16-seed Howard hangs on for the program’s first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, an 86-83 win.
In an even better follow-up, 11-seeds Texas and NC State traded blow-for-blow in the nightcap, with a last-second shot giving the Longhorns the thrilling win.
